My cooperation with Scheck Audio GmbH, Germany once again has proved to be very prosperous: We have finished the development of a networked amplifier design successfully.
Based on my twinLANe Ethernet Layer-2 network infrastructure, the design of this Class-D power amplifier reaches major design goals for use in wavefield synthesis loudspeaker arrays: lowest total cost, simple installation, high efficiency, phase-coherence. 16 of these amp units, an equivalent of 128 individual audio channels, are driven from a single, daisy-chained CAT-5 cable-run. Each channel may be attenuated, equalized and controlled through the network. The power-stage is able to drive 250W per channel, total board-size is only 185mm x 260mm.
