Network Control Unit makes its debut in L.A.

My work on the all new twinLANe network control unit (NCU) has been successfully completed. The NCU already has been delivered in quantities.

The 19″ rack device is central controller for an IOSONO state-of-the-art wavefield synthesis speaker array. It can control up to 640 speaker channels delivered by 10 MADI streams in a single unit and allows audio distribution as well as parameter control across an Ethernet Layer-2 based audio network, connected as 5 CAT5 cable-runs. The system is modular, MADI I/O boards can be configured freely.

For user convenience it features a big volume knob, LCD display and USB port for loading and saving system configurations. It also sequences the power-on procedure of the audio-amps that are under control.

The device premièred in Los Angeles, where it was installed as the central audio controller for the newly opened Peltz Theater, prestigious showpiece of the Museum Of Tolerance And Art. There is a second IOSONO installation in Los Angeles at the Chinese Theatres.

The Peltz Theater as well as the Chinese Theatres have installed two of the biggest wavefield synthesis reproduction systems delivered by IOSONO. Both installations are entirely based on twinLANe technology.
